Over 9 years of repair experience • 90-day parts & labour warranty on most laptop repairs
Laptops and computers run our work, school and everyday life—so when they suddenly slow down, overheat or refuse to turn on, it can stop everything.
At Phone Studio, we repair many common issues on Windows laptops, desktop PCs and Apple MacBooks for customers in Courtice, Oshawa and Bowmanville.
You’ll deal directly with the technician, get a clear explanation of what’s wrong and only move forward with repairs if it makes sense for you.
We handle many common hardware and some software-related problems, including:
Cracked screen, flickering image or no display? We replace many laptop and MacBook screens and test for lines, backlight and brightness issues before you pick it up.
If your laptop only works on the charger, dies quickly or shuts off at random percentages, a new battery can restore portability and reliability.
Loose power jack, cable only working at certain angles or the laptop not powering on at all? We inspect the charging port and power circuit and let you know what’s possible.
Fans running loud, laptop getting very hot or everything feeling slow? We can clean out dust, refresh thermal paste and check for drive or software-related performance problems.
Laptop and MacBook repair pricing depends on the model, type of fault and the parts required. We always confirm the cost with you before starting any work and keep you updated if anything changes after deeper testing.
For very old, heavily damaged or low-value devices, we’ll be honest if the repair isn’t a good investment compared to replacing the laptop.

Simple repairs like some screen or battery replacements may be done within a few hours or next day, depending on parts availability and how busy the shop is. More complex issues, especially power or board-related faults, can take longer for proper diagnosis and testing.
We can often inspect and clean liquid-damaged devices and look for shorted components or corrosion. However, liquid damage is never guaranteed and sometimes parts or the entire board must be replaced. We’ll tell you what we find and what your realistic options are.
For many hardware repairs like screens, batteries and charging ports, your data is not touched. If we need to work on the drive or reinstall the operating system, we’ll discuss data backup options first. No shop can guarantee data, but we treat it with care and respect.
In many cases, yes. Upgrading from a hard drive to an SSD, increasing RAM (where possible), cleaning out dust and checking for software issues can make a big difference in performance.
Yes. We work on many Windows laptops and desktop PCs as well as Apple MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models. For very old or very new models, we’ll let you know what support and parts are realistically available.
It depends on the model, condition and what you use it for. Sometimes a single repair, like a new battery or SSD, can give an older device a few more useful years. Other times, the money is better put toward a newer machine. We’ll give you an honest opinion either way.
Yes, on many laptops and desktop PCs we can upgrade storage to faster SSDs and, where supported, increase RAM. On some newer ultra-thin devices and MacBooks, certain parts may be soldered, and we’ll explain what is or isn’t upgradable on your model.
Often this points to a weak battery, charging circuit issue or power management problem. We can test the battery, charger, DC jack and mainboard to see what’s causing it and let you know the best option.
It’s helpful, especially if you’re having charging or power issues, but not always required. If you can, bring the original charger so we can test everything together.
If, after diagnosis, the repair is not possible or not economical, we’ll explain why and go over your options. In many cases we can still help with data-focused solutions or give advice on replacement and trade-in options without pushing you into something you don’t need.
