Over 9 years of repair experience • 90-day parts & labour warranty on most console repairs
When your game console stops working, it’s not just a toy—it’s your downtime, your kids’ favourite thing and sometimes even your streaming box.
At Phone Studio, we repair many common issues on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch systems for customers in Courtice, Oshawa and Bowmanville.
You deal directly with the technician, get a clear explanation of the problem, and only move forward with repairs if it makes sense for you.
What We Can Fix on Your Game Console
If your console powers on but your TV shows “no signal” or the HDMI port feels loose or damaged, we can often replace the HDMI port and check for related board damage.
Consoles pull in dust over time. If your system gets very hot, shuts down during games or sounds like a jet engine, we can clean it internally, refresh thermal paste and check airflow.
On consoles with disc drives, we can often help with disc read errors or noisy drives. Where supported, we may also upgrade storage to larger or faster drives.
If the console won’t turn on, turns off right away or only sometimes powers up, we can inspect power supplies, internal power boards and connectors to see what can be repaired.
Console repair pricing depends on the model and the type of fault—HDMI port damage, overheating, disc issues, power problems and so on. We always confirm the cost before starting any work and keep you updated if deeper testing reveals more damage.
If your console is very old, heavily damaged or not worth the repair cost, we’ll be honest and help you decide what makes the most sense.

We most commonly see PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch systems. If you have a different console, contact us with the model and issue and we’ll let you know if we can help.
Very often, yes. A damaged HDMI port or related circuit is a common problem. We can usually inspect and replace the HDMI port and check for any board damage around that area.
Simple repairs, like some HDMI or power-related issues, may be completed within a few days, depending on parts availability and workload. Overheating and more complex board-level problems may require extra time for testing under load.
In many cases, yes. Dust buildup, old thermal paste and blocked airflow are common causes. We can clean the system internally, refresh thermal paste and check fans and sensors.
For most repairs, just the console is enough. If you’re having problems with controllers, a specific game or cable, you can bring those too so we can test everything together.
Data is usually stored on the internal drive or memory. In some cases, we can move or clone drives, but not all situations are recoverable—especially with severe damage. We’ll tell you what’s realistically possible for your specific model.
On supported disc-based consoles, we can often inspect and repair or replace parts of the disc drive. We’ll test with multiple discs and let you know if a stable repair is possible.
It depends on the console, the issue and the cost of replacement. For popular systems still in use, a repair can be good value. For very old or heavily damaged consoles, we’ll be honest if your money is better put toward a newer system.
If the console is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, opening it or having it repaired by a third party may affect that warranty. If you’re unsure, check your warranty status first. For out-of-warranty systems, third-party repair is usually the only practical option.
If we determine that a reliable repair isn’t possible or doesn’t make sense financially, we’ll explain why and discuss your options. There may still be possibilities for data transfer (where applicable) or we can help you with honest advice about replacement options without any pressure.
