Phone Studio buys devices at the Courtice bench. The technician opens the device, checks the screen, battery, ports, and core functionality, then looks up real-time market comparables before quoting a number. The offer reflects what the device is worth today, not a generic guess. You walk out with cash or trade credit, or walk away if the number does not work for you.

Cracked screens, dead batteries, water-damaged boards, or phones that will not power on usually still carry parts value. iCloud-locked iPhones and Samsung FRP-locked phones are worth less because they cannot be reactivated for normal use, but they are still accepted for parts.

Phone Studio buys, sells, and trades devices at our Courtice repair shop at 2 Glenabbey Dr, Unit 5. Customers from Oshawa, Bowmanville, and Whitby are served from the same bench.

The bench process is the same for every device, phone, tablet, laptop, or console. No appointment, no obligation.

    Bring the device, charger if you have it, and photo ID. No appointment needed.

  2. Step 2: On-bench check

    The technician opens the device and checks the screen, battery, ports, and core functionality.

  3. Step 3: Market quote

    We compare against real-time market resale data, the offer reflects what the device is worth today.

  4. Step 4: Cash or trade credit

    Accept the offer and walk out with cash or trade credit, or walk away, no obligation.

How we grade what comes across the bench.

Practical grading so expectations are clear before the offer. Every device gets a fresh assessment on the bench.

Like New
Minimal signs of use. Fully functional. Excellent cosmetic shape, looks unused.
Excellent
Light wear. Fully functional. No major cosmetic damage that affects daily use.
Good
Visible wear from regular use. Core functionality intact. Reliable as a daily driver.
Fair
Noticeable cosmetic wear, or minor functional quirks that do not stop the device working.
Damaged
Cracked screen, port faults, battery degradation, or board issues. Often still carries parts value.

    Driver's licence, passport, or other government-issued ID

    Helpful for verifying charging behaviour on the bench

  • Original accessories

    Box, earbuds, and unused cables add to the offer when available

  • Sign out of iCloud / Google

    Or bring the account password, the device must be unlocked to assess fully

  • Backup your data

    Anything you want to keep should already be backed up before you walk in

  • Factory reset (optional)

    Saves a step at the counter. We can also guide you through it in-store

  • Unlock status note

    If the phone is carrier-locked or has a passcode you do not know, mention it up front

  • Realistic expectations

    Locked, broken, and water-damaged devices carry parts value but less cash value

  • Your data leaves with you

    Every device is wiped clean on the bench before resale, and your SIM card and SD card come back to you at the counter. Nothing leaves the shop with your accounts still on it.

Honest about value

Locked, broken, or water-damaged?

Still bring it in, but here's what the offer will reflect, so the number is not a surprise at the counter.

  • iCloud-locked iPhone

    Cannot be reactivated for normal use. Still accepted for parts value, but the cash offer drops significantly compared to an unlocked unit.

  • Samsung FRP-locked phone

    Factory Reset Protection blocks normal reactivation. Same parts-value treatment as iCloud-locked iPhones, accepted, but at reduced value.

  • Water-damaged or won't power on

    Boards, displays, and cameras often still carry parts value even if the device is dead. Bring it in, we will tell you what it's worth as parts before you decide.

3rd time is the charm. My S20FE suffered serious salt water corrosion. The first and second repair shop opened the phone and said they could not retrieve the data and photos.
