Real 2026 prices in Canadian dollars — what we charge in Courtice, what Apple charges, how to tell if you actually need a new battery, and when it’s worth it.

How much does it cost to replace an iPhone battery?

A new iPhone battery costs about $49–$129 at Phone Studio in Courtice — a fraction of the price of a new phone, and usually fitted while you wait. Apple charges more, or nothing at all if your battery still qualifies for a free swap. Here are the real 2026 prices, how to tell if you actually need a new battery, and when it’s worth it.

How much does an iPhone battery replacement cost in 2026?

Expect roughly $49–$129 at an independent shop like ours, $89–$165 at Apple, and $70–$150 at other independents. Apple replaces the battery free if its capacity is under 80% and the phone is still covered by warranty or AppleCare+.

Our range reflects the battery you choose: a quality aftermarket cell at the low end, a premium cell in the middle, and an original OEM-grade battery at the top. Every option carries the same 90-day warranty — the price difference is the cell, not the labour.

How do I know if my iPhone battery needs replacing?

Apple’s own guidance is to replace the battery once maximum capacity drops to 80% or below. You can check yours in Settings › Battery › Battery Health & Charging — the “Maximum Capacity” number is the one that matters.

Capacity falls with charge cycles: iPhone 14 and earlier are designed to hold 80% at about 500 full cycles, while iPhone 15 and newer are rated for 80% at around 1,000. In daily use, the tells are a phone that dies by mid-afternoon, shuts off suddenly even though it shows charge left, or feels sluggish under load.

Is it worth replacing the battery, or buying a new phone?

This is the classic repair-or-replace question: if the fix costs less than about half of a comparable new phone, replacing the battery wins — and a ~$50–$130 battery against a $1,000-plus phone isn’t close. The main reason to go new instead is age: if the iPhone is more than five years old or no longer getting security updates, put the money toward a replacement.

Apple vs. an independent shop — what’s the difference?

Apple uses first-party batteries and will replace yours free if it’s under 80% and still covered — if you qualify for that, take it. Out of warranty, a good independent shop is usually cheaper, faster, and local, with its own warranty. The catch is that quality varies between shops, so check the reviews and ask what battery and what warranty you’re getting before you hand the phone over.

Will I lose my data, and are cheaper batteries safe?

A battery swap doesn’t touch your storage, so your photos and messages are safe — backing up before any repair is always smart anyway. A quality battery is perfectly safe; the real risk is a no-name cell with no warranty.

How long does it take, and what should I do first?

Most iPhone battery replacements take 20 to 60 minutes and can be done the same day when the part is in stock — often while you wait in the shop.

  1. Back up to iCloud or your computer — good practice before any repair.
  2. Make sure you know your Apple ID and passcode; we’ll need to unlock the phone to test it.
  3. Don’t worry about the case or screen protector — we handle removal and refitting.
